Neurotypical inability to reason
So many times I've been in situations with neurotypicals where they refuse point-blank to discuss x topic. You're having a 'heated' discussion with an NT, you're right, you've checked your facts over and over again, you know what's what, when, why, who down to the finest detail; perhaps it's events, perhaps science - whatever the topic, you know. Then the NT will get louder and louder, more intimidating, more gaslighting until you wanna run away.
Name as a talisman. The NT will start using your name to override reason... just stat gently and end up shouting your name, as if by doing so, it will override your knowledge and reason... It's a shorthand version of "Down boy!, Bad boy!" - this I find one of the most obnoxious NT habits, often flipping me from defence to offence, from flight to fight, as then they've made it personal, yet they still continue to ignore the point, still refuse to reason or examine the actual facts. Autism is called a disability, but in this case I think the NT is disabled.
Sometimes I can't find a way past the point, and just end up agreeing to shut them up, but the whole thing is still there, the gaslighting, the abuse; thats's when I cut them out of my life where I can- often without warning or explanation - they're not worth it.
You just know, discussing with another autistic would be better, we understand reason, logic, science... and you know, if we're presented with a cogent set of reason why we're wrong... hell, we're wrong and will adjust... we will not start shouting someone's name to bully them, to gaslight them... In this way... We're better, and if NTs caught on to this the world would be a better place.
.... and the final word on this... They always come back with this... "I'm passionate about this"... no you were fucking wrong, you gaslighting narcissistic piece of sub-human shit. /rant over lol :)
