What happens when the 'tism ignores biology
So at this point today I've done two small tasks, and one large one, then I broke.
The small tasks were the washing up and drive to and from the local garage for car maintenance. The car maintenance tasks were fixed in time, and involved getting a coupe of rides in whilst the mechanics serviced the car... Easy enough but with a couple of fixed points in time.
As some folks with the 'tism and ADHD in particular will understand, it's difficult to go do stuff when you know there's something you must do in the future at a fixed point in time, a meeting, appointment, whatever. What you want to do is the human equivalent of sleep-mode, and wake just in time for your task / appointment; starting something else will almost certainly mean a scheduling failure and panic when things collide, so yeah doing nothing is the easy option.
I decided to go do stuff. Now I was careful... took my meds, ate a small breakfast, did the washing up, dropped off the car and had a lift back. Here's where the day went awry, and with a recklessness not witnessed outside of an episode of Pinky and The Brain, I did stuff. The large task in hand was finishing the build of my new garden planter, weighing literally a quarter of a ton, designed to weigh down a gazebo - this is the first one, a second one will also be fabricated and be semi-permanently placed in time.
Keep in mind, it was a single drink in the morning, and a small breakfast. So six hours (after breakfast) later and I'm done, however the costs kick in... The focus had happened, the 'tism component of the itchy brain had ignored biology - everything ached, headache of doom, sun burn, feeling very, very sick and shaky. To top it all off, I'm then 10 minutes late for my ride to go get the car - I could have cried.
Upon returning with the car, I trudged through the door, collapsed on the couch and slept for an hour; since then consuming three pints of fluid, some chicken with mayo (one stop in the air-fryer!). Now I've enough energy to type this up. I want to go do other stuff today (clothes washing, hoovering, recycling), but honestly I can't see it happening (and there's five hours left in my day!), I don't have the mental energy, and physically everything still aches. I know tomorrow I've a much wanted and needed meet up with a friend to go do something foodie and social, so some resources need to be reserved for that. Limited resources fucking suck. I think it'll probably be tomorrow morning before I'm approaching some kind of baseline existence!
Oh yeah, and I'm now three hours late for the 2nd batch of meds today /sigh.
